I’ve written here before that GM knows way more about my ‘13 Sonic hatchback than my car tells me. For a while I was getting monthly reports by email (encouraging me to pay for a monthly service) telling me how many miles I’d driven, and four individual tire pressures, among other things. My car has a single LED that

That Sonett engine is a “V4 from a Ford Taunus”, not Taurus.

Uh, no. Does the name Philo Farnsworth mean anything to you?

That’s more than I thought it was. Do you have a link?

Lifelong Ohioan and deviled egg fan for about 50 years here. Surely, you can debate using Colman’s dry mustard vs. others, the amount and brand of mayo, do you add minced scallions, do you top with paprika*, etc. But IMNSHO I can definitively state that chocolate deviled eggs, etc. are a travesty.

Further, I can drink way better wine at home with my steak than what you’d get at these places for the same money.

This recipe by Sam the Cooking Guy changed my whole approach to grilled chicken:

The official vehicle of upscale suburbs/exurbs all over the USA: Lexus RX-350

The most pathetic thing is people skipping a $150 transmission fluid change or an $800 timing belt change, then eventually having a total transmission failure or a broken timing belt with an interference engine. They become so much deeper in the hole than if they had done the correct preventative maintenance.

My DD is a 2013 Chevy Sonic hatchback; no backup camera and certainly no ADAS of any kind. Parking next to any SUV or pickup means I must back up very slowly until about halfway out when I can see other cars in the aisle. I will be looking for a rear cross traffic alert system on my next new vehicle.

Marketingspeak: What is “forward leaning” food?

Bring back the LS7 from the C6 Zo6. 505 NA HP.

You make a lot of good points. I am 15 years older than you, a retired electrical engineer, and despite a career of designing microprocessor-based new products, have always been a late adopter of new technology. E.g. I bought my first smartphone in 2014 and am still using it daily. I’m leery of using my

What is “glaning”?

I don’t blame the EPA. I blame the auto industry lobbyists who greased the right palms to introduce “vehicle footprint” into the regulations, allowing lower mileage standards for bigger vehicles.

Mandatory power seat adjustments: Seat cushion moves front/back. Front edge and back edge of seat cushion independently move up/down. This has been more or less standard for decades.

We bought our first new car when I was 43 years old, for my wife. She’s had two more new cars since then. I bought my first and only new car for myself in 2012 at age 57 and am still driving it. I did a lot of wrenching on always-used cars when younger, so that further reduced costs. We all make our own financial

I’ve been a regular Heinen’s customer for 45 years. My parents shopped at the original Pepper Pike Heinen’s when I was a kid. They may be slightly more expensive, but their high quality, vast selection, and extraordinarily friendly staff make it worthwhile. I’m only concerned what will happen when Jeff

Same old story: Corporation minimizes spending on periodic maintenance (e.g. rail car wheel bearings) to maximize profits. Underfunded regulatory agencies are handicapped by right wing legislators paid off contributed to by corporations. Disaster ensues.
