I am rather surprised the figure is as high as 25%. I’m guessing many of these are non-degreed people with good electrical skills. I don’t think there are all that many of us Electrical Engineers out there loose in the general population.

Oops, Kbyte, not Kbit.

How ever they made it, it was robust.

...(circa 1980) a “minicomputer” was the size of two refrigerators standing side by side.

I had to change the heater core on my very first car, a 1964 Pontiac LeMans. IIRC, I had to remove the right front fender. Still better than removing most of the dash, as I’ve read regarding the Taurus.

Magnetic core. Betcha.

I really like the terminology of calling the crude late-’70s-era mass of integrated circuits and resistors in there a “minicomputer,”

...see if Amazon has motorcycle helmets that can be delivered by the time of the election.

Even if you are the guy who hangs out with the parents...the single women who are with their friends with kids will think you are kind of creepy, or worse yet, a total loser.

Freaking makes you want to put on a Pink Floyd record.

A 4-door hatchback Honda Fit Sport, with...3 pedals and a 6 speed manual transmission and the factory sport package for $21k.

I’ve had far too many grossly time-consuming jobs over 47 years of wrenching to describe here. Most of these involved spending many hours with Northeast-Ohio rusty old cars from the 60s and 70s; drilling out broken exhaust manifold studs, bending new hard steel brake lines, and so much more. Not only 10 square meters, but “6th floor without elevator”!

What happens when the CC company doesn’t apply your payment in time? Oh you sent it on time, and they probably even got it, either through the mail or online, but there was a glitch somewhere and it didn’t get applied to your account.

I got to use this great vintage tire gauge a friend found for me, so that was fun

The atmosphere over there is definitely different...the notion of anyone else catching on to a subtle reference, pop culture or otherwise, is pretty much nil.

Raph seems like a nice guy who is just as happy writing about bicycles and living in the car-damaging hellhole that is NYC. Being HQ’d in either NYC or LA is bound to produce a distorted view of car culture. Maybe the Detroit and North Carolina locations are part of why David and Torch are such great writers? Nah,

It’s all just a fantasy...I’m completely anti-religion.

I knew when I was 8 years old that church people are hypocrites. Children can see right through their bullshit.

An older-generation CR-V or RAV-4, before they got bloated, is a great choice if you want more carrying capacity than a Civic/Corolla. Good luck finding one with a stick shift, less than 200K miles, and relatively rust-free though. An older Honda Fit would be a good suggestion, too.
