I actually ask this question to Lee Unkrich, it's a toy natural instinct. So regardless of how messed up the Buzz action figure is, they react naturally when the moment comes. Like a gecko cutting their tail off, nobody teaches them that, they do it by default, without thinking it through.

Colors and animations and overall composition the new version proves to way better, the only thing that I really don't like is the particle generated fire, the drawn work better here.

Wind is missing! All games are missing a key sound, when you are in a car you not only hear the engine, you also hear the wind and quite loud. Until a game comes with the wind sound I won't feel fully immersed in the simulation.
