Social Security is not unviable. 35 years ago, all the talk, which I remember, (from republicans) was about how SS wasn’t going to be available for boomers because it was too expensive - too many of us. Guess what. It’s still here. Boomers would take out at high levels, but they also put in at high levels as workers.
