Oh, also FUCK Stephen King.
Oh, also FUCK Stephen King.
I agree with you. Even the court documents in the custody case show that apart from the judge not disbelieving allegations of abuse against Dylan and holding severe reservations about the conduct and report submitted by his hires psychologists, but also focus on Allens complete inability to see how a sexual…
They're doing the same thing with Dylan, as seen on the NY Times (the Facebook page, at least). A daughter is a daughter. Woody Allen took naked photos of, and began an intimate relationship with his own daughter's sister.
You know what I find so weird about every discussion about this shit? Almost every article that mentions Soon Yi refers to her as "Mia Farrow's adopted daughter". Why do they do this? If you adopt, that child is your child. Why is it never "Mia Farrow's daughter"? I feel like throwing in the "adopted" label serves as…
You are not wrong. I posted a not as well worked argument as well. And, looking at the responses, the overwhelming community opinion seems to be that it is entirely relevant. The author is just wrong here.
I am sorry, but Woody Allen having a relationship with Soon-Yi is entirely relevant.
Thank you for pointing out some of the problems with how this is being discussed, and for trying to assert some much-need boundaries on this issue. But I don't see why "Woody Allen's relationship with Soon-Yi Previn" is irrelevant. I'm a social worker and a big part of my job is working with abused children and their…
That article was offensive and disgusting. It was pure apologia.
I disagree; Allen's relationship with Soon-Yi Previn is relevant. It shows he is willing to break a constellation of taboos and is genuinely bewildered that anyone has a problem with it. In other words, he puts his own wants before any norms of behavior and ahead of other people's feelings.
I think his relationship with Soon-Yi Previn could be argued as relevant. Another adopted child from the household, much younger than him.... come on.
That Daily Beast article was so slut-shamey and victim-blamey that any relevant or important information it might have included is lost on me. I had no opinion before (mostly because I, as a random person who has no insider information, don't really have a right to weigh in and I don't get why everyone thinks they do)…
Thank you. I was kind of shocked by the use of that sexist, homophobic, tired "joke". Also surprised and disappointed that only two comments I've read have mentioned it so far.
Uggghhh...I can't be the only thing who thinks every word out of Gaga's mouth is an attempt at getting attention.
I have yet to hear a single comment from any editor on that article. In fact, Tracie will delete my posts if I bring it up in one of her articles.
Well, I'll be ragey with you. I read Jezebel daily, enjoy it immensely, and am aware that most websites have their flaws, but holy shit...that post, including the bulk of the comments section, is a fucking embarrassment. I just spent a good hour in a wormhole of horrible, infantilizing abuse apologia. Fucking ugh.
Sad. It reminds me of a time when a kid in this group i was leading admitted to being physically abused by his girlfriend and the other people started laughing, until another kid talked about how his mother beat him. Abuse against men by women isn't funny. It's disgusting to see people comment that way. It also says…
Holy shit.
I disagree that "most" (or likely any) forms of feminism advocate female against male violence.
Jesus, that was a trip down the rabbit hole. There are comments from people I recognize here today that I can't believe say shit like that.
I'm confused. I had no idea there was a form of feminism that advocated/was cool with partner violence—as long as the partner was a man. How can I make sure that I am never associated with that form of feminism??!? (It even makes me sad that this exists. :-()
