That’s my in-laws in a nutshell. On the rare occasion I engage, I know no matter what I say will be denied without refutation until we get to the “well, people are saying...” ending where they admit they don’t care about facts or truth. This book would sell huge copies. I’m tempted to write it and get a genteel yet stuffy older black man to be in the author photo. 

Every time I try to point out law and facts to my MIL, she goes home after, finds a right wing poll/study that buttresses her view, and then texts it to the family (except me) to prove I’m wrong and just hate her. 

As a local government employee in a past life, I can say that a month is pretty short from decision to terminate until the procedures are complete, and that’s if/when the union and management agree.

I feel sort of bad for him. I think he deserves firing, not a suspension, but I feel bad that he’s so fixated on maintaining his relevance and tie to the most dramatic event of his career that he’ll sink the career.
