Except for one female friend who bought it as a family thing, everyone I know with a Harley is 55+, white, paunchy (often a retired cop) who is continually complaining about “those people”, “kids these days” and “everyone else these days.” In head to toe black and orange branded clothing. Not a dynamic I’m looking to

I saw them in concert this year, dragged by a friend. They put on a decent show. Not that I’d admit this without hiding behind a burner.

I haven’t polled the Berklee grads I know, but judging by what they post regularly, every one of them would be breaking nookie in a heartbeat. A good gig like that pays for years of indie albums and self-promotion.

As a child of that era, I’m awestruck how they took some of the cheesiest fun party music ever and made a slog of a show from it.

I’ve been trying to sell out my whole life, but no one is buying.

That GIF is so accurate it’s amazing.

Reminds me of when I lived in Syracuse long ago when there were all these glowing pieces about the renewal of public transport, but it still took me two hours to go to the mall on a bus to do Christmas shopping.

Thanks, coach.

Papering over stagnation has been working for the women for years, so Gulati is trying an equality theme.

I’ve made similar points and get responses about LAFC academy being inner city kids, various scholarships, etc. Sterling anecdotes but little actual chance that Random American Kid X is on anyone’s radar unless he/she is in a pay for play system in or near a major city. The development of American soccer needs some

I’d nitpick this one. Klinsi wasn’t forced out for Arena’s hire. Arena was a stopgap filler after JK burnt too many bridges and had a team trending downwards.

Agreed. And none of those players are a draw to make me spend money, on the rare occasion I’m somewhere I can catch a game.

If we just hadn’t had a Wondo siting on the roster, I might tend to agree. Either Arena had poor choice in making a roster or failed to be a draw to bring JK’s big names back from Europe. Either way, that’s on him.

I really don’t care if the next coach is American or not, as long as the hire is part of a process to figure out how the NT should be the capstone of a proven developmental program.

Not to mention the desert of jobs or options in the surrounding area where even the most bootstrappy bootstrapper couldn’t move up.

Grew up near a Mohawk reservation in NY and never failed that lazy white alcoholics on welfare were always the first to complain about how easy all those supposedly lazy Indian alcoholics had it.

Huge agree. Pro GK, top college GK, U21 (or whatever the numbers are these days...) I want the doors wide open.

Wholly imho: He put a higher quality of player on the field, initially, by going strong after US-eligible players, especially in Germany, who were outside the existing team pool. There was a sudden bump in performance that tailed off with injuries and lack of depth and the development model, which may pay off in the

Naeher’s been a mess since she got smelled in TON but she’ll remain there as a placeholder for Campbell, who is pretty good but is also anointed without any real trial. There is no good reason in meaningless friendlies why Franch, Smith, etc. aren’t getting time. It sells POC soccer. It gets more NWSL players national
