@applejacks: Word. Multiple times in The Queen I was so caught up in the film/performance I caught myself thinking "how did they get this amazing footage!?"...only to remember moments later that it was JUST A MOVIE and that Mirren was an actress...that's how convinced I was by Mirren's portrayal.

@Understater: Yeah, this is a good thought. Although I would amend to say that Joan's been using her looks/charm (with men only) AND smarts to get ahead while Peggy is using smarts and talent.
