When you lease it, the $7.5K comes right off of the cost basis - most of these will be leased.
Look, clearly you aren’t an engineer - I am, work for a supplier and the only reason no one has done this in a lower priced car is the cost of the batteries and the weight! We do business with ALL OEM’s, including Tesla and ALL Tier 1 suppliers, battery companies, power electronics, etc.
You do know that basically all it takes is to have enough KW hours in the pack for the range, right?

Barra has worked for GM for DECADES - worked her way up from the plant level.
Their quality seems to be pretty good, and has been for a while - lots of awards, etc. Reliability has also been very good for a long time.
AFAIK, they haven’t spent any money on the HQ that is notable.
Nothing crappy about the 4.3L in boats, or trucks for that matter.

It’s the new Cruze that will be the hatch - it’s not out yet and its far, far too soon to be making any predictions about how it stacks up against other vehicles in the class. The old, current version sold 3 million in the first six years on the market - not too shabby, you know?
