There is more than a few of us with this sickness. The support group meets on Tuesdays.

Yes. Reach back and help younger enthusiasts when/how you can.

I’m more amazed that you folks have spilled so many words on this and not one drew the comparison to the Nikola video of the semi rolling downhill that got them in hot water. Remember that?

That... doesn’t seem that bad? You are covering 3000 miles in a smooth 5 hours. If that price is too much, maybe you should consider the 44 hour drive and how much that would cost. You are paying for the convenience, and that seems like a straight up bargain to be able to sit back in a chair and do something once

I’d include an SV650 on your list, but for the same reasons you outline.

Letting folks get in over their head is generally bad for us enthusiasts. Folks buy a project, never see it run despite dumping cash in at an alarming rate, get soured on cars and scrap it then tell everyone they have ever stood in an elevator with how old cars are horrible money pits.

It’s no longer than any class A motorhome, and dumbass folks drive those around without (that much) trouble all the time.

I’ve mainly seen these used as pit bikes by fellow racers, and honestly they look absolutly awesome for that. Quiet, no maintenance, can be ridden one-handed (to allow for carrying things and whatnot) also easy to store/transport. Didn’t realize the price was that high though. At that point, I’d rather have a CRF110

....but ‘Ring times are wholly unscientific. Conditions cannot be controlled or adjusted for and thus a “slower” car can show up on a better weather day and post a lower time than a “faster” car that got bum conditions.

College: expensive

You are aware that there is members of the LS engine family that are iron block/aluminum heads right? The 6-liter LQ4 is one example, and those are known as insanely durable. The Vega was 50 years ago, and production methods and materials have come a long way since. Don’t judge today’s cars by one models half a

very simple answer to “why was this plastic to begin with?”

$$$$$

Why? This is a simple setup that allows for a nice low floor in the back and decent ride quality. Are you asking for a more complicated, more difficult to maintain, more likely to fail system?

To undertake this trip on questionable tires is just idiotic. You planned on big miles, and most of it with a trailer and car hooked up behind you. There is no reason you should not be yelling from the mountaintops that tires are not something to gamble with. IT’S LITERALLY THE ONLY THING THAT KEEPS YOU ON THE ROAD.

Look at the torque number comparison between the two. That is what you feel. After all, how often are you actually at wide open when you have 150hp on tap? (other than the track, of course)

ooops. reading is hard.

It’s a kit Cobra, not sure why the article didn’t mention that (though it is pretty obvious) so while this is not a cheap project it is hardly “fuck you” money.
