... Then you must not be looking very hard then. Not only are people on this very forummad about it but so too are many on various VW forums. I invite you to go look at a few because I did and there were in fact MANY pissed off owners. Either way your comments are not very useful and hence no need for me to waste my

If super expensive cars like the i8 were included I’m surprised Tesla isn’t on the list. No- I don’t own one but have driven one and “fun” is an understatement in regards to the rocket-like experience I had driving it.

Yes, I believe you are right. That said the emissions situation is more or less the same thing, with a negative impact on air quality.

I have no clue what you’re talking about now. People do in fact care. Why else do you think virtually everyone including current VW owners are furious about this?

.... Takata isn’t a car manufacture.

You are missing my point entirely. You mention pollution of the past where little and far less was understood about the repercussions of allowing those pollutants into the air. That has nothing to do with a modern manufacture in modern times with the knowledge on hand with regards to the affects of mentioned

I can’t help but think that there will be a mandantory national recall for all of these cars. If so the owners have the right to be pissed. I know I would. It would be like if somehow GM came in and suddenly claimed they messed up on the Volt and my car really only was supposed to get 20 miles on EV versus 40.

Yeah except that their cars tend to hug the bottom of various reliability teports so not too sure they're exactly fine cars

But everyone does in fact see that Volkswagen intentionally lied. And in the consumer world that is poison

We are not talking about the past, as in 40-50 years ago. We are talking about current events. 50 years ago it was assumed asbestos was safe. Today we know diesel particulate is bad.

I just got through hearing a 5 minute story on NPR about this. Given that VWs tend to sell to the more granola eating, NPR listening crowd I'd say this is fairly significant

I’ve repeatedly seen that comment over and over and my response is that we are talking about two different situations here: the difference over unintentional defects and intentional engineering to deceive. Oh- and as far as whar happened here... We’re talking about 500,000 cars emitting excessive particulate matter in

The volkswagon fix mentioned something that many of us on here speculated yesterday. The loss in fuel economy. And that in turn will piss off VW owners. Out of curiosity yesterday I looked at quite a number of volkswagon enthusiast forums. You wouldn’t believe the sheer volume of owners, even loyal owners were

I paid $400 for a sr500 14 years ago and rode it for 5. It wasn’t in great cosmetic shape but was incredibly reliable. In honesty though these aren’t great commuter bikes. The single piston vibrates the frame a lot on these which goes right to your hands.

You know... even if this were simply about the Passat its not exactly an attractive car. Its a little bloated looking.

You didn’t have an argument to begin with. If Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Ford, GM and other all manufacture cars all over the world and yet retain a level of quality then why would VW get a free pass?

I am never going to believe what you say in that where the car is manufactured has anything to do with the quality. For example, Toyota has numerous large plants in the United states and yet the quality of the cars they produce are absolutely stellar right along with Toyotas general perception of quality

Wherher the cars cheap or expensive it shouldn’t matter. If the carmaker produces a shoddy product regardless of where it is assembled then sorry, it is a poor product .As you well know Toyotas are manufactured all over the globe, and they still have an absolute Stellar reliability rating and hence what I was saying

VW, Audi, and in many cases BMW and Mercedes have been notorious for being problematic cars yet they often get away with that because they have the image. If you look at us based quality reports VW in general has had a poor reliability rating fur years. So no- it's not a made in the U.S., Mexico or Germany question

Actually I see a lot of VW TDIs on my way to work. That said the California market is a special case because they don't sell nearly as well elsewhere. The U.S. Has also been quicker to adopt EVs and hybrids which are now at levels of cost and efficiency that makes diesel less of a clear cost cutting alternative. For
