Apologies, I should have been more detailed. The Toyota mentioned were owned by me, my mom, dad, brother and aunt over the course of almost 30 years.
Been looking for years. VW tends to be above mini, land rover, and dodge . On other words above the absolute worst brands for reliability but still amongst them. That's not a resounding sign of their quality.
The car is gorgeous IMHO. It’s exactly the direction the brand needed to take. Image is indeed a serious problem still as seen by the comments by some. No matter how good the brand gets these comments will likely exist even though if this were a BMW or Mercedes those same commentators would probably love it.
Sorry but your comments make no sense. We’re talking about VW- a brand that is on par as far as the target demo as Toyota, Ford, Nissan, and GM. They all have the same number of whistles and bells, features and trim packages. Yet “somehow” Toyota, Nissan, Ford, GM ...pretty much all of the other brands have less…
At least they don’t fall apart while doing so...
Nope. If its “bullshit” then I guess all the long term reliability reports that support my assertions are wrong as well...
At the end of the day check out any number of reliability charts compiled from many 1000’s of owners. That collective result is the answer.
That's not really making a point. Now go out and ask 20,000 VW owners what their cars were like and then do the same for other brands. The result will be that more people had issues with their VWs than pretty much all the others. Well... Maybe except land rover...
Uh... No... Most if those I mentioned were less than 10 years old. Also- as mentioned it's usually about 3-4 years before they start falling apart anyway so it's not like the brand new ones that are supposedly better will be any different . In fact the last time we had another of these VW discussions a respondee told…
My brother has a Subaru outback and it too seems too low to actually go off-roading. Then again I remember the time we took mom’s Camry “off roading” and it was pretty good!
The thing is that you can’t deny VW has a notoriety for being problematic. The fact that the last sentence posed the question in that regard is one thing, the fact that the brand ranks as one of the worst on most overall long term reliability lists is another. It’s a constant topic on this forum. You don’t see the…
It’s the brand. Seriously VW routinely kisses the bottom of the reliability charts on almost all long term consumer publications. That tells you something
Guess all the consumer mags showing what I just said must be full of trolls then
Audis are also big rolling pieces of crap with horrid reliability records. Just because something sells well doesn’t mean its good.
Will need to wait and see the good photos of this versus some of these more pixelated ones. But to me the grill looks to big. Otherwise... love it.
I bet there’s a coupla’ Yugo owners who claim they’ve got 100k on their cars. That must mean Yugos are actually really great cars.
Are mechanical failures a stereotype? Anyway... just doing my public service to save people from future woes...
hey now, leave Tennessee out of it. You can have Kentucky though...
that’s smart. I mean, my mother in law’s Jetta is a nice and comfortable car to drive and it handles really well. But man the thing is crap. If it were leased then if it broke down then who cares?
