The question is: will this car be a quality lifted wagon, or an unreliable German Subaru when it lands in the U.S. next year?
Maybe... Maybe not. It’s important to realize how long cadillac and Lincoln spent as dead brands in the US. From the mid 70’s through late 90’s these cars were ancient. The Lincoln and Cadillac of those days ride around on basic rail frames and chassis designs that were decades old. Styling was non existent. Only…
Wow. Even Nascar. That and Republican Mayors, Indiana businesses and on and on are all against this thing. Might be time for the Guvna' to repeal it.
I think that's why GM is ready and willing to pour 12 billion bucks into the brand. I expect there will be some major changes coming and they at this moment have a good and very capable leader. If I were in the market fort a luxury car, I would consider a Cadillac over a BMW. Mainly because at least around here BMWs…
They are still fugly looking cars that totally lack any originality. There is so much mish-mash in the designs, taking chunks from Mercedes, Lexus and Audi and rolling it out in a big anonymous thing on wheels. If they want to get serious they need to develop their own design DNA instead of ripping off other people's…
sorry, but comparing the blobs Hyundai passes off as their luxury cars aren't at all on the same level as the current Cadillacs. Going after the target buyers of Luxor-Hyundais would be a HUGE mistake. As the current head of Cadillac said it will take time to put cadillac back up there with the likes of BMW. Most of…
12 billion? I guess I must have no idea what it takes to run an auto company because that seems like an insane amount. On the other hand... This hopefully means some future stunning products. As mentioned it's not like what they make now is actually bad. Quiet good in fact. So what the future holds surely must be…
Cool! I'm a graphic designer ( tech industry ) but always wanted to be a car designer. I toured the GM design center outside of Detroit. Amazing place. I got to see the Buick, Cadillac, GMC and Chevrolet studios. A once in a lifetime experience.
For 5k it had better be pristine. This is far from that.
There's one around here called Dorris Auto Wreckers in Hayward CA. Its a pretty old-school yard and they have an enormous amount of vintage stuff stacked all over the place. That plus the new stuff as well. I went and got a replacement passenger window for my wife's 91 Civic a few years back. Sometimes I just went…
You know what? Good for him. Comes to show that if you really like doing something you usually CAN find a way to do it if you try hard enough.
As said, I can respect any car that someone has poured a lot of effort into and I don't mean to belittle. But I do think tastes are changing. In fact it almost seems that more people in my generation ( 20's-40's ) are more impressed seeing an original car with the stock steelies and hub caps, and maybe a few scratches…
Well... a lot of euro cars from the 70's and 80's make their here as well so I suppose all is even in the grand scheme of things ( such as vintage Fiats, MG's, old land rovers, jaguars and so on ) But people buy them because they are less common here and that's also probably why people over where you are buy old…
There is something to be said about waiting for press releases and product announcements when the product to be released is actually exciting or amazing. The fact that this is mentioned as not being a car immediately feels like a letdown in light of the constant delays of the model X and the yet to be released model…
Firstly, it makes sense that Ford and GM wants to sell more luxo-barges in China: their market is FAR larger than any other and therein lies the ability to make lots and lots of money.
They were never sold in the EU to begin with. Besides- the US buys a fair amount of cars from Euro automakers that have fairly rotten reliability issues so I'm not sure that's really a good assessment. I will concur the brand in the US fell of the rails. But at least this concept looks to be going in a good direction.
They probably won't sell them there either. You'd definitely stick out.
I'd bet 100 bucks that the resulting list will include at least 6 pieces of shit- like some sort of jaguar, BMW, Mercedes, and an Audi of some sort- all of course less than 10k but potentially needing 10k in repairs at any given time.
Me too. What's funny us me and my grandmother would watch bond on Saturdays on ABC when I was a kid. Good times!
