Yeah, on the one hand, it’s not great that a(nother) Black actress is being typecast, on the other, I have a bit of a hard time sympathizing with her here, since: 1. she has personally benefited from the system that encourages lightwashing and reinforces colorism. 2. most Black actresses, especially those darker than

From quirky blond mpdg to quirky black mpdg? By Hollywood standards that sounds like a tough sell.

I believe everybody’s struggles and lived experiences are real and shouldn’t be discounted but in this climate she may want to consider that in “Divergent” the author of the novel describes her character specifically as“ dark brown and pretty with short hair” yet it it was Zoe who got the role. and in “Dope” ALL three

I’m all about pushing against type, but she does have an air of Manic Pixie Dream Girl about her in real life, even if only aesthetically. That said, I think this is awesome:

Having eroticized female dancers at a professional gathering is gross enough, but the “sexy schoolgirl” thing is extra disgusting.

Probably stuff like taste in music, geographic location, history, all those things. They can guess this stuff with pretty high accuracy now a days.

That’s Lindsay Weir from Freaks and Geeks.

When I’ve gone wedding dress shopping with my friends, I’ve seen scores of gowns for like $6,000, $8,000 and have laughed my ass off. One friend got the dress of her dreams for about $800 and was really thankful that it fell within her price range. But she was prepared to spend more. Like, wanna add a pretty, sparkly

Sadly for a wedding dress that is budget.

I wish people would quit using “cultural appropiation” as if it is a bad thing. If not for people using “cultural appropriation” we would all, still, be living in caves.

It's plastic surgery more than it is photoshop. She completely changed her face.

How do you know it was a white marketing team?

Eh...cmon. You can hate her and the song but let's not stretch to an argument of appropriation from the choreography.

Watching Flaked now and having the same thoughts. It’s not that this show is particularly bad or anything, but we’ve just seen it all before, with different backdrops and soundtracks, so many, many times before.

MoN was SO overrated! I got through the first five or six episodes and then was just like...I don’t fucking care anymore and also Aziz, you’re kind of an asshole who’s too busy giving himself cookies for not being AS racist and sexist as his peers to actually think deep, do the work, and just NOT be racist or sexist

The message I got from it was “Sometimes you have to settle for the woman who is physically exactly the cultural ideal.”

I really like Will Arnett, but I have no desire to watch this. I am just so over caring about angsty middle-age men. I am tired of them whining about their self-destruction. It occurs to me that if Frazier came out now, I probably wouldn't bother with it either.

I slogged through Love as well, and I thought it was going to be okay, but it sucked. The characters were so shallow and so needlessly silly and foolish. I don’t mind when characters make choices that make me cringe once in a while, but that entire first season I almost couldn’t watch because of their extreme neurosis

I felt the same! I didn’t even watch the last episode of JJ :/ and I never do that AND I love Kristen Ritter. I did like Master of None am grateful that it brought Paro into my life.

Meh, the SO and I tried to watch Master of None.... and didn’t enjoy it much.
