For real. It's not transphobic to acknowledge that bodies have a material dimension, that there are shared material experiences, or that the fashion industry commodifies transbodies.

yes. really. if you think there isn't a raging twitter presence of perpetually angry collectors of cis-privilege abuses, you haven't been paying attention.
He often says that. Which is why I think this is contextless click-bait. I think he just assumed people know his very long history of crusading for body diversity, which he IS very famous for.
That context would have been a nice addition to this article, thanks!
That's a different discussion, entirely, and one someone should have with him to better educate him on the topic. Not arguing there at all. BUT, the fashion industry is not using diverse trans models, either. Only the same old tall, thin, slim hipped model.
I also find there's a lot of attack without knowing all the facts. It's very rage.rage.rage. when the situation at hand isn't so black and white. Or a lot of arm-chair attorneys. A LOT of arm chair attorneys.
Yea, as he often does - seems like Tim Gunn is mostly talking about how clothes fit. I admire someone who admits that find a topic complicated and take some time to think about it and learn (which, seems like he's done some reflection and is in the process of further reflection) rather than just picking up the…
He has expressed that very sentiment many times before. I think people are conflating his comments without looking to his history of promoting body diversity.
And he has a problem with that.
I agree. Can't we use what Tim said as jumping off point for a positive discussion about what types of bodies are actually used to model, versus the types of bodies most women actually have? But, where would be the fun in that, I guess?

I'd say their "job" as "advocate" for a cause means they don't undercut the goals they're fighting for with inflammatory, headline-seeking bullshit.
Um yeah. What meme is that exactly? That a rape accusation, true or false, can be harmful to your life and career? Yeah.....pretty sure you don't have to be an MRA to know that.
Not seeing too many MRAs here. Mostly the responses seem to be
Do I need to point out that in most jurisdictions libel is a civil, not a criminal matter?
The problem being that wouldn't apply in situations where libel is being contested. Allowing an anonymity order for the claimant in that situation is shutting the stable doors after the horse has bolted
The nature of this lie is such that it could mark him forever. Even if he's exonerated, or if no charges are ever brought, some large swath of people are going to think he's a rapist.
What price would you put on your entire reputation?
I think the only reason he knew was because his publicist was asked for a statement. Jane Pratt's XOJane is a fairly popular site, so it was covered by the mainstream media when it happened.
And now, assuming he's innocent, he has reason to sue Right to Speak Out, too:
