I'm pretty convinced that the "Southerners" embracing this stereotype are Northern, yankee transplants who came down here to go to UGA or Auburn and fell in love with the Southern stereotype. They fall in love with an idea of the South and ruin it for the rest of us.

And may I also add, as a born Southerner, there is a difference between redneck and country. I'll say it again, we aren't all rednecks portrayed the way these yokels portray us.

You're right, lefty. But I have a feeling you don't feel that way for other situations. Growing up black in Detroit doesn't give a black man an excuse to knock my mom out and jack her Camry while at a stop light, but people still gave him an excuse because he targeted a white lady. I have a feeling many on this board

I understand what you're saying. I come from that "Southern background" as well. And lord knows I know (and am related to) many people from that generation that harbor racist and homophobic views. But unfortunately, I also know many young people that think that way. And people from the midwest, the northeast, and

Sigh. So some "circumstances" are all good to stereotype — and other ones are beyond criticism, right?

I live in the Deep South. I don't care much for Duck Dynasty. I suppose I get the appeal of the show for Northerners, but it's such a cheap stereotype of our culture. No one outside of the South ever gets to see the progressive parts of the South (the music, culture, cuisine, history, etc). because it doesn't fit a

My father is an old white guy in the heart of Applachia without a high school degree. He works with at-risk youth in his spare time and teaches my friends (a gay city couple) to shoot bows.

Leaf: feminist or misogynist???

"He's also the code guy for today's racism, as he was in the 60's when the school was named."

One, he's not my pope.

Originally it was more of a boys' club for Confederate veterans. In less than two years it was the familiar terror group. Forrest's involvement was short, and wasn't associated with terrorist actions, which he deplored.
Most of the end of his life was spent trying to deny and cover up accusations of a heinous war crime

The KKK was originally a "grass roots" organization in the south. Sorta like the local 4H or whatever. The lynching part didn't come till much later. If you read history, you would realize that race relations got progressively worse.

Joke? Joke?

Was it a joke when the Russians bombed us at Pearl Harbor?

There is no proof that Forrest was ever a grand dragon, let alone the founder of the kkk.

I've said this 1000 times on these Catholic articles, how can everyone still be upset about this concept? If you think that women should be priests then you're not Catholic. Like...how do you not get that? The Catholic church and its principles aren't something we take a vote on or do what seems most fair or nice,

Dear God. He gets credit because he has to fight his ass off to say each and every one of these "little" things. You are judging a statement made as leader of an organization with a billion members by the same standards as a blog post, and it's just silly.
