Really enjoying this show. So many good performances.

Another superb episode, I presume this is B+ within the range of the show, as otherwise every Walking Dead episode would receive an F

This series is a huge improvement so far. Pearl is a far superior actor and the level of gurning and mugging has dropped. Capaldi looks delighted to be playing off someone so capable. This episode was a lot of fun.

Do you think PTA is just too famous for people to say to him that it's a good film, but it needs to be half an hour shorter? I watched this for the first time and enjoyed it, but it's a real Rattle and Hum of a film.

It can be OK, but I really don't need every emotion we are supposed to be feeling signalled loudly.

Capaldi is clearly relishing having someone who can act as his companion. I do, however, worry about what horrible photographic evidence Murray Gold has to hold the BBC to ransom to continue his employment.

I've been rewatching Breaking Bad in between seasons and Better Call Saul is a far superior watch IMHO. Breaking Bad has so much boring family interaction that never engages me (although Dean Norris as Hank is my favourite of both shows).

Apocalypse had such terrible cgi, it looked worse than a mobile phone game. In one scene a character's face didn't light up from the flaming sword thing they were holding. Did they just run out of time?

One thing that really turned me off about the comic was the modern trope that all "adult" comics have to be relentlessly grim and sadistic.

Very much this. The squid thing was daft.

Watchmen IMHO is a film with two of the greatest sequences set to music I've ever seen: the alternate history start and the creation of Dr Manhattan to thunderous Philip Glass.

A great 90 minute movie in there

So it turns out underneath all that cheesy showboating Richard Gere WAS always the very good actor people made him out to be.

This excellent article did remind me of how fucking pumped we were after seeing this film in the cinema. Nothing before matched up to Snipes kicking ass to a POUNDING sound track and the start is indeed incredible.

Agreed although Depardieu is an interesting case

Relax, a friend did business with him re his vinyards. He was charming, intelligent and has aged LIKE A FINE WINE.

Two words: "cgi blood"

Man, John Cusack was in a lot of good films around this time: Grosse Pointe Blank, Con Air, Being John Malkovich, Bullets over Broadway, Identity (ish), but I haven't seen him in anything decent in 15 years apart from Maps to the Stars.

So the jk simmons return didn't happen in the end? 😢

Correct
