Made the Buffalo chicken dip 2 years ago from a recipe I saw on here and it was goddamn delicious. Smoked jerk wings this year with black beans.

Volunteering or staching (sp?) at a restaurant is a pretty common thing (here in Toronto anyways) which makes sense given the high turnover rate of employees. You basically come in for a 4 hour shift or so to see if you have any clue or potential for what it takes to work in a kitchen.
