I've been working on it for a while now, with my Dyson sphere-toting peeps being somewhere around a level III or IV on the Kardashev scale. It's not easy hiding a large Dyson sphere.

LOL! True, but in this case, the acne riddled face at the register is akin to a writer with poor grammar. Each person is representing their company, or is the face of their company. I certainly wouldn't want someone with poor grammar writing for me.
I have a friend who used to be a manager at a major fast food chain. She refused to place unattractive people or people with acne riddled faces at a cash register because she felt their faces didn't represent the face of the company.
Are you a terrorist? If you are, then I would say such a joke would be in poor taste. Otherwise, joke away... ;-)
Try the Pauli exclusion principle. That might help explain what you're talking about.
Every few years I have a tumor that pops up on my left pinky finger that has to be removed by surgery. I've had three of these so far, and I'm getting ready for a fourth surgery. Thankfully, it's just a single finger and not an entire hand. Regardless, it's a pain to do normal things when you have a finger…
That's exactly what I was thinking, but try to convince some people of that.
Thanks for the great recaps! I will truly miss this show more than most. There's never been a show quite like Eureka. RIP!
Nicely done!
I actually do know the lines. Despite being a relatively rare surname, it's been extremely well researched back to about 1000 AD, and was used as a surname hundreds of years before the practice became common. I have no idea why that is, however. My 4th great grandfather married a Hastings. That Hastings line goes…
That's not pedantic. That's simply making a correction. If you were truly pedantic, you would have lectured us on the etymology of the word along with your correction. There, now you are corrected. ;-)
The House of York and the Tudor lines were were hopelessly crossed by the time of the Wars of the Roses. My own family lines cross and crisscross between both families for several centuries. Back then, England was the Arkansas of Europe. I'm convinced of that.
I have 13 generations of Hastings in my family, going back to King Edward IV. His mother was my 17th great aunt. That English throne will be mine!
King Louis IX was my 20th great grandfather, so I wonder if I have a legitimate French claim? Then again, I believe I have a legitimate claim for the English throne, too. The mother of King Edward's IV was my 17th Aunt. I have 13 generations of Hastings before connecting to my surname, then 6 generations with my…
I bought my first iPod Touch because my Palm TX died. I wanted a small handheld ereader, which was my primary purpose for my TX. I grew to love my iPod, but then wanted something larger, but not too large. For me, the iPad is too large to easily carry around with me everywhere I go, no matter how great the device. …
Grid also made a laptop which converted to a tablet. If my memory serves properly, it was also the first of its kind. It was also used by NASA and I was told at one point it was the first laptop/tablet in space. I haven't tried to confirm this information regarding NASA and Grid, but to this day, I regret not…

SevenStones, I absolutely agree with you... to a degree. Yes, the sentences could have been written shorter and more to the point, but sometimes it's not about being short and to the point. Sometimes, it's about being evocative and creating a desired mood, or feel. It's about immersing the reader from the very…
