I think it’s okay to say what cyclists do cause problems and what cyclists don’t. The general problem wi people’s perception is they pay far more attention to cyclists doing things incorrectly, than to ones who do things correctly. Ahhh, I never mean to post on articles like this but then I do and then I feel regret.

Hmmmm. That’s one of the reason I pipe up in posts like this. Is that drivers take the action of a small percentage, and then use that to inform how they treat a wide swath of people. I never bike at night without lights or a helmet and yet because of three idiots you have no sympathy for me? That’s weird.

Hmmm. I get the sense that you live near an Ironman location or something of that sort. And, culturally speaking, those types of events(and all the people who visit to prepare) evoke bad biking.

Also, I’d be curious to know where people live in this discussion. Because I think college campuses, and really big cities are where bicyclists are the dumbest. Away from those areas, bicyclists in my experience tend to be much more predictable, responsible and safe.

Again, the rules broken are different, the proportion is the same.

And I don’t believe any of the idiots in this argument who say that bicyclists are endangering others 90% of the time, or that the majority of bicyclists run red lights. It’s just not true. But if you’ve been on an interstate lately you know 80% of people speed.

I’ve said it five times, I’m talking proportion of rule breaking is similar but they break different rules. I think lots of bikers are on sidewalks out of fear of drivers AND that’s not always illegal.

I’m sorry, are you asking for citations for any of the bullshit facts said about cyclists? It’s all what I see, both as a driver and a runner, and a biker.

Im much more of a driver. I bike Far less than in the past. I drive to work most days and bike maybe once a week for fun.
