His original ad may be funnier... The opening of him running in suit, boots and carrying a flag is all sorts of awesome. Now I know why I didn’t cut it as a lawyer though: I never yelled, smashed through doors, or made amazing advertisements.

And for proof of my hypothesis, give 10 19 year olds a car with 300ish horsepower and see how many of them have kept the cars tires side down within the year.

When I was 19 I didn’t think so. Now that I’m older, I would say for most people, “yes.” Some are the exception. There are studies out there demonstrating that young men in particular don’t develop the part of their brain related to risk avoidance and decision making skills until around 24-26.

Ha. When I was reading the article, I thought to myself, “closest I’ll get is a 128i; this makes me really want a 128i.”

Well, I think this car could represent two things for Toyota. As you suggest, maybe replace the FRS, but if that’s the case, I hope they go a little bigger with the engine. Or, alternately, let this exist as the lightweight drivers enjoyment car and drop something a little bigger or a blower in the FRS. I love the

The fun undertone to all of this is that VW’s compliance with CAFE standards is probably hitting the fan as well.

In case I wasn’t clear, I’m sure lots of BMW cars can receive $5,000 in maintenance. And a 3 series is a different beast altogether from a cost to return ratio(an e36 even in 318 spec, is holding value well beyond e34s. Not me though, I’ll take the speed from a 535/530/540 over the slower e36).

“And there it is - cars do break, old cars break more frequently (and cars-bought-used break even more frequently because the guy who sold it did the same analysis and got rid of the car).”

In the foreseeable future, probably $30,000. You can get a new WRX or an ATS with the 2.0 off a lease for that kind of money. I don’t see much return on the money past something like those two cars. Not that I could afford it either. Realistically, anything more and it would have features I don’t appreciate or speed

I’ve been pondering a Mazda5 because they are pretty cheap for 2013/14 models with a good chunk of warranty left. Quite a bit heavier than the XB but also a much stronger engine.

Somehow prorating it according to how much your over is a good idea. Because when I see it’s over 50lbs, I don’t just accept it. I call my wife over with the carry ons and start repacking our bags like an annoying turd, “Will this shoe fit in your purse?”

Is this serious? Bullshi nationalist? The guys from Argentina.

If the previous generation coupes are any indication, you’re right that depreciation has a ways to go.

This price is $2000-4000 below every HHR SS listed within 500 miles of me. Yes, I’ve recently searched for HHR SSes; its not my first choice, but also not a terrible one. I’m fairly surprised at the amount of people unwilling to overlook the GM/Chevy badge for a whole list of pluses.

I think a good first choice is the Subaru WRX. It has room for a few people and their things unlike the Miata, AWD means it’s versatile in non-temperate climates, and it’s fast.

Even if $2k was the selling price, for a non running, rough E36 M3, it is a gamble. You can get ones that are somewhat well cared for, and running , for under $5000 I’m thinking. If it was local and I could diagnose it a little it may be a different story. The thing I don’t like, is there is no redeeming quality, i.e.
