What’s wrong with electronic throttle bodies? They can pretty much emulate a cable when you want it sporty and “direct”, but can then vary to be more efficient when you’re just cruising.

I know you are making a decent point, but I don’t know if I agree with your assessment of NPR specifically doing that... Here are just a few examples from NPR where they actually do address the idea of paying higher wages to fill jobs:

I mean - you are right. I did look in the store myself first and didn’t find another 8mm ratcheting wrench, but I could have called another store... However, shouldn’t they have a way of requesting a warranty claim or ordering a new part for me? They couldn’t (or just didn’t) do any of that.

The Craftsman warranty wasn’t really all “solved” by having Sears stores anyways... last time I took my broken lifetime-warrantied 8mm ratcheting wrench into my local Sears store, I had to wait 10+ minutes for a customer service person, and then they looked around the store for 15 minutes, couldn’t find a new wrench,

Sold a super clean <50k mile E46 M3 last year. Still miss it a lot...

Uhh, no.

They are 10-hour shifts, so not quite that fast, but yes fairly quick. More like one lift every 8 seconds. Yes, that is what car production is like - but the lifting overhead part is obviously not everyone’s job.

I think that’s the point - they wanted these cars to go to people who would USE them as cars, not store them in a museum. Hence why there was a whole application process to be approved to buy a GT, and why they didn’t want people to then turn around and sell it as an “artifact” to someone who would never drive it.

Nice review! I echo the sentiment of maybe waiting and picking one up slightly used... I got a 2015 M235i last year used. Fully loaded, with the optional limited slip diff, alcantara pieces in the interior, and M performance exhaust. MSRP was close to $55k, and I got it for $32k just 2 years old...

The CD4 platform is a global platform - both the Fusion/Mondeo and Edge are sold in both NA and Europe. The C-car platform (Focus, Escape, C-Max) is also sold in both NA and Europe. The B-car platform (Fiesta, Ecosport) is currently sold in both NA and Europe. Finally, the Transit and Transit Connect are both also

I mean, good public transportation is 100% the end goal. But it’s not realistic right now - SouthEast Michigan has had a few proposals just recently to add bus lines, rail, etc... and people never want to pay for it (always gets voted down).

I’m not sure about the last 10 years specifically, but I’ve seen numerous studies that found Michigan to be the most expensive state to insure a car in the United States (or close to the most expensive).

It’s not as straightforward as that. As someone else already mentioned, insurance is absurdly expensive in Michigan. Doubly-so if you live in, say, Detroit.

I voted NP - I think this one is on the fence though. I would want to know if the aftermarket bumper was installed just for the looks, or was this car in an accident?

Just saw this - but the other guy is right. Bicyclists were there first, essentially. It’s a beautiful scenic road along the huron river, and the road connects part of Ann Arbor to part of Dexter. There are also multiple parks along the way, and numerous neighborhoods; not that it should matter too much.

Does it really take that much brainpower to think “maybe I shouldn’t post videos of myself driving literally three times over the speed limit on a busy road”?

There are different levels of risk though. Sure, anything can happen anytime you do anything, right? But there’s a huge difference between illegally turning on a red light and driving 90mph over the speed limit on a busy, twisty street with cyclists and pedestrians.

To all of those questioning the ‘harshness’ of the sentencing:

I live in Ann Arbor; this road is twisty, has very little room on either side of the road (hill going up on one side, down to a river on the other), and has LOTS of bicyclists on it. It’s a 35mph road, and he was doing 125mph. On a Saturday morning, where cyclist traffic is the highest.

Completely anecdotal evidence here, but I’ve owned a couple of BMWs and never had any major problems, but the one Hyundai I did own went through 3 transmissions in ~2 years due to very poor 5th gear synchros (replaced under warranty). Still loved the car (when it wasn’t grinding going into gear), but I’ll take my BMW
