I don’t know if all unions are treated as such, but I know that mine is.  During the Great Recession in ‘08-’09, our pension fund was nearly taken from us and our Financial Secretary and Trustees had to go to massive lengths to produce paperwork showing due diligence and proper steps of all kinds being taken in order

You do realize that most unions take in people who are unskilled, put them through an apprenticeship, train them for a number of years, and then produce trained workers as a natural function of their continued existence?

I mean...it’s entirely possible that he thought exactly that.  Chicago is a pretty broken city.

If you actually think that just any programmer off the street can step in and pick up where people who work in flagship studios walked off, then I think you are dreaming.

I’m an officer in my local union and I get laid off regularly as projects end and new projects crop up elsewhere.  Being a part of a union does not make you layoff-proof.  It just ensures that people are treated well WHILE THEY ARE EMPLOYED.  Now, if the company is executing layoffs while forcing remaining employees

This.  I’m in a union in Indiana (granted near’ish to Chicago so we reap some of the economic boost of that metro area) and I’d take a pay cut to go work in a California local (where the cost of living is at least 3 times where I am now).

Keep in mind that this mindset you have is not a blanket union thing.  My Union has no such provisions.  After you complete your 4 year apprenticeship, during which you get a raise every six months, you all make the same amount of money unless you are a “foreman” which can change from project to project.  Personally,

well I know I’m a member of one and nothing about that membership ensures my continued employment.  So i guess you’re the one that needs to do homework.

nothing about belonging to a union guarantees continued nor especially “tenured” employment.

fuck Wal-Mart

fuck Wal-Mart

I was thinking this exactly. Chicago is the brightest spot of blue in the red hell that is Illinois/Indiana/Ohio/Wisconsin/Kentucky.

trying to manipulate this is a lot of the foundation for people who advocate intermittent fasting and training right BEFORE you feed, when glycogen is most likely to be completed and your body is allegedly forced to rely on metabolizing fat cells for energy.  Of course, then you’re training tired, which is a whole

I really really enjoyed Push.  And I thought Scott Pilgrim was a riot, too.

I enjoyed every season of every Marvel show except Daredevil season 2, thoroughly enjoyed Mike Colter as Luke, and I thought Cottonmouth was laughably stupid as a character. I have no idea how to react to this article.

you can just stop paying attention to JK Rowling, just like Many of Us know that there was only one Highlander movie and only one Matrix movie etc etc.

Fortnite didn’t begin as a Battle Royale game.

Voted for Bernie in the primary and Jill Stein in the general.  I’d still rather have Trump for 4 years than her.  At least he’s stupid enough to fuck everything up and possibly collapse the whole fucked up system around him.  She’s clever enough to fuck things up to her advantage.  I agree that America deserves Trump.

Chock up another fan of champions, troop recruiting, and the mission table.

IMO it’s only noticeable to people who have leveled characters before in the (ridiculously fast and easy) most current leveling format.  If it’s your first time, I can’t imagine it seeming anything beyond the pale.

OITNB is pretty great, and Her is a wild ride if you haven’t already seen it.  I haven’t watched the Rome series myself but have heard good things.
