She could teach the women on The View a thing or.two. She didn't comment on anything she didn't have to. She's a smart woman.

I'd rather have a Little Prairie On The House.

I really really hate to write what I'm going to write, I want you to know that, because it's one of those "life is unfair as a grownup" type things and those are the type of things that suck the hardest.

I'm with you! I was talking about what women are expected to do, but it's not what I do!!! I work at a university and wear jeans or khakis and solid-colored tops most days! I hate shopping. But I am guessing my experience is not the norm for women in white-collar jobs. Congratulations on making it work so you can

maybe because your white and she was never a crossover pop star ? Not trying to be mean or anything...just saying. She was a pretty big deal in my world.

So. I am here to give an update about what happened last week when I fled from my emotionally abusive boyfriend. I've been posting about trying to get out of this relationship for a while but had been very very stuck do to being very very poor and very alone in a new city and not being able to afford a place of my own

I feel like I'm in the minority, but every single pair of jeans that I own have actual pockets. Granted, I buy my jeans at Old Navy and Wal-mart. It's my dress slacks that don't have pockets. I still carry a purse regardless, I have too much stuff that goes with me to work to not have one.

I think you've done a pretty good job of distilling the objections here.

I used to work for Jewish bosses and we got the big Jewish holidays off. I'm a big supporter of days off, for whatever reason.

Not everyone celebrates Christmas, and it's a religious holiday. There's a significant difference between that and Thanksgiving which, as a purely secular holiday, can theoretically be celebrated by everyone. If these stores were actually staffing their Thanksgiving hours purely with volunteers, and those volunteers

"as do so many people I know who are professionals with advanced degrees..."

Bollocks. My Wife is a litigation partner at one of the largest and oldest law firms in our City. Neither she nor any other lawyer she knows works on Thanksgiving. None of the paralegals or support staff works on Thanksgiving. If your fellow grad students choose to do school work over the holiday that is their choice,

Let me break the news to you : the vast majority of Americans have Thanksgiving off. If we allow our corporate overlords to change that reality without a fight, then before you know it we will all be working on major holidays.

You are taking a long disance trip, recognizing this as a possibility, and not preparing. That's...on you.

Word, on top of MDs, nurses, and the other whole variety of hospital support staff and emergency on call services, utility workers, transportation, hospitality, restaurants and entertainment, and don't forget long term care facilities such as rehabs, nursing homes, group homes, etc which require 24 hour staffing,

What are you asking here? Why aren't retail workers expected to work like medical professionals, EMTs and police officers? Is that what you're asking?

Um, they have one. It's rule about who gets the franchise, term limits, and the secrecy of its electoral procedures aside, I feel fairly confident that the 800 or so residents of Vatican City, almost exclusively clergy or papal diplomats, feel pretty secure in their electoral process.

Seriously white people, it's not always about you.

Can we please stop with the "European standards of beauty" trope every time we talk about Asians who prefer double eyelids and lighter skin? It's a particularly Eurocentric view and it's a bit annoying.

FELLOW WHITE PEOPLE: NOT EVERY PERSON OF COLOR WHO GETS PLASTIC SURGERY DOES SO TO LOOK MORE WHITE. None of these women look anymore European than before. Stop with the mental masturbation.
