Realizing I will piss off a number of people but will ask if a little laser pointer really that dangerous?

A lot of people see lasers as “no big deal.” And they’re not a big deal. Right up to the moment someone’s either directly injured by one or indirectly injured because of one.

I’m pretty sure they didn’t run out and buy a helicopter, thermal imaging, ground units just to go after this punk ass kid. Pretty sure they already all the equipment. In fact, it sounds like they were working on something else when they started getting lased.

They’ll arrest you for pointing a laser at an aircraft for the same reason they’ll arrest you for doing 140 mph down the highway. It’s not that something bad did happen, it’s that you created the potential for something bad to happen.
