I didn’t even know they had, though it doesn’t surprise me at all. I just saw everyone using the term all of a sudden to describe something that’s been around for 20 years (but worse) and feared they were kinda giving him license to call it that and try and trademark it.

I’m still annoyed the Kotobukiya model kit never got released.

Metal Slug Tactics and Hollow Knight Silksong are the ones I’m mostly curious about.

What’s with the term “metaverse”? Is this not just some shit software? It’s not even related to Zuckerberg’s Meta, is it?

I like the new forms, especially mino cape Decidueye!

Cognitive dissonance eh!

Always a sign you have full confidence your business is doing the right thing when your promo shot hides your face.

Lovely article!

That’s the first I’ve heard Chinese opera singing, at least intentionally. I’m sure I’ve heard snippets here and there in my life without realising.

I was kinda raised to be ashamed of my culture, and I never relate to the depictions of it when I see it referenced in various fantasy settings.

I have bought a Spider-Man comic, so look out, world! Spider-Man movie adaptations here we come!

Sounds more like Persona 2 territory to me!

I don’t hate it.

I’m sure they could think of more bizarre and wholesome ways to end up wearing themed armour after you beat ‘em!

Such a surprise that the rich heads of these companies keep sharing their enthusiasm for it, while the people actually making the games have repeatedly made their distaste for it all known.

I went down a rabbit hole of watching GTA V conspiracy theories and “ghost sightings” once and it was so damn stupid and I did not regret any of it.

Are there not things they’ve added to the game without a whole textbook-worth of lore?

The ‘races’ of high fantasy are different species. But this is just including different (socially constructed) races - it really shouldn’t be too farfetched to just say “hey, more people have turned up!”

I liked the very first game because it tapped into something that was real (Chuck E Cheese and derivatives can be creepy AF) but the 2nd game onwards abandoned much in the way of any new and interesting real-world observations (s’pose there’s only so much you can do with the pizzeria animatronic premise) and just got

I’ve been keeping my eye on Beast Boxes for the past couple of years now (or however long they’ve been going). At first I wasn’t interested, but their designs have gradually gotten cooler and more clever as they’ve gone on.

I don’t own any, but I really like the look of their stegosaurus one (Jawbreaker?)

I’ve been called a cracker in the past and I found it dramatic and hilarious because of how blatantly disconnected it was from who I am. It’s not designed for me. Maybe it’d have offended my great, great, great, great, granfather.

My uncle who works for Nintendo told me it’s actually a remake of Wand of Gamelon.

It’s pretty and I guess that’s what they’re showing off so job well done. The pretty graphics really highlight how uncanny some things are to me. Like how odd it is that you can collide into cars and nothing reacts on the road other than a quick toot of the horn.
