What I originally thought was that they took it to FL41 and that was the problem, but that actually wasn’t the problem. The problem was they took it on a series of steep climbs to get it there and that overstressed the engines, then flew too slowly, then ignored every single emergency checklist/procedure because they

I have a high trim Mazda 6 and honestly I want to keep it.  It’s nothing special, but I kind of like it and it may age well I think.   Considered one of the last manual sporty Accords for the same reason.

Yeah, that is the quintessential fun car keeper for the upwardly middle class.

If it’s a good hybrid/PHEV that’s fast, fun, and not more money than a Supra, then I can accept that it’s not a manual. But it had better outdo a Supra, otherwise, just buy the Supra manual.
That said, it is sharp looking, so I hope what makes it to production is keeps the best of what we are seeing here.

Oh you’ve forgotten or missed so many.... like the guys who were flying to Minneapolis who were “going over schedules in their laptops”, passed the airport, then had to prove they were not hijacked in order to land.

Tom,  I appreciate your articles.  You should write a book, seriously.   I do wonder if you have any EV/HEV/PHEV specific advice for used vehicles in that category.

Years ago a NYTimes article spoke of a person who was sold a car that was literally two different bodies of the same model welded together.   So yeah, have your car inspected before purchase.

Yeah, this is the only caveat, but usually prepayment penalties, while steep, do not equal the total interest of the life of the loan.

No, that’s not true unless the loan specifically states there is a prepayment penalty, which much be completely clear on the loan documentation, or that is an illegal contract.   So not sure what you are thinking there.   And the prepayment penalty is a fixed amount which may or may not equal the interest on the life

Will it be a PHEV?   Will it have an EV option?   If the answer is neither, then it’s the wrong car for the wrong time.   I’m very tired of pure ICE cars being introduced as “new” in this day and age.   Lastly, if they are going to price it in Supra territory, then yeah, big mistake number 3.   So let’s hope it is

a) agreed

Yes, Ferdinand Porsche, member of the Nazi Party and the SS.

I mean, I get your drift, but it’s a little hard to divorce that particular heritage.  I’m happy to praise the car, but it would have to come with that particular sidenote, IMO.

I hope they are obsoleted by BEV versions. Seriously. We already know that BEV tech makes simpler, more powerful versions of virtually every equivalent ICE vehicle. If Tesla is building semis that can regularly haul 80,000 lbs 400 miles via 1MW chargers, it’s just a matter of time, and the military, unlike civilians,

Yes, the car promoted/designed in part by Hitler.   :)

There will be electric ones in less than 50 years, but I get your point.   I hope there are none on the road in 50 years, except as hobby and museum pieces.

Well, he did launch Starman in his Roadster, so...

Yes, it’s the Model T.  Now you can debate the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th slot.  OR you can redefine the question to “what is the most significant specific car, not model of car in history?”   Then you get to things like cars that won famous races, or JFK’s limo like what was pictured, or you know, Chitty-chitty Bang-bang (I

Agree, unfortunately, while the county where I live has added a lot of roundabouts in recent years, they’ve not made the majority of them very pedestrian friendly.

There is a massive longitudinal study from NHTSA that concluded that RTOR accidents are such a small percentage of accidents that they probably don’t warrant changing current laws.   The study you cite shows “an improvement” but IMO, it’s numbers that matter.   The NHTSA study showed similar but they warranted it to

roundabouts for the win
