Not as much as having one can.
Not as much as having one can.
In any other context, I’d side with the kids. But Princeton is supposed to be where the social and intellectual elite is educated and prepared for the burden of leading the world and this was literally a class about hate speech. If this isn’t the class to discuss challenging and controversial issues, uh, what is?
Thank you!
Being mixed or bi-racial means that you are born to parents of different races. Being born to two Black parents makes you Black not bi-racial. Having great, great grandparent who may have been born bi-racial doesn’t make you mixed. So you don’t know anything about being mixed. And it’s dismissive because you are…
We’ve all been there. It’s not easy to simply exist as you are and it isn’t easy to be proud of your heritage but we don’t have to chose sides. We chose ourselves and our families. And people who care about us, respect that and support us. Everyone else is a self loathing asshole.
That’s the struggle. But listen, here’s the thing: Fuck ‘em. You don’t owe anyone shit. And if they ask “what are you?” be as vague as possible. I use such gems as “Canadian”, “Woman”, “Human”. Which is generally frustrating and forces the other person to continue with their stupid questions until it gets…
Seconded
Could you elaborate on this? Genuinely curious as to the point you want to get across.
A ton of policy is decided with votes like these. Particularly funding related things. Which is how you get $50 million high school football stadiums. They do it intentionally because they know turnout is going to be terribly low and all they need to do is convince is a handful of people to show up.
And if you can donate a copy of The New Jim Crow to one of your local prisons (Inside Books Project is great if you are in TX), that would be awesome, too. Especially since some prisons have tried to ban the book from being read by inmates.
That was beautifully written.
Because...?
Why would Sanders’ policies look better coming from someone else? He has literally no baggage. All they come up with is a very questionable pseudo-scandal about his wife’s job from years ago.
Here’s a specific problem with Harris: her failure to prosecute Steve Mnuchin when she had the chance:
Bernie was filling stadiums and nearly beat HRC in the primary despite having no corporate backers, the rigged coin tosses, etc. I think it’s a vast oversimplification to pin this down to age. Americans want change desperately. The issue is status-quo, neoliberal (dismantling the welfare state) policies. People need a…
Or, you know, he’s attracted to and/or fetishizes black women, which sounds more likely.
One thing that I’d like to see come out of this is an increase in female/POC agents.
Bernie Sanders is absolutely nothing like the other “old white dudes” who have ran for president. He’s anti-establishment, his policies all poll high and the media & Big Money donors hate him because he will change the status quo.
To all people basing who they are going to vote for based on age and race instead of policy and ability please reconsider.
