Yeah, just another example of how people nowadays use words without bothering to find out what they actually mean. It’s all a part of our lazy-ass, short-sighted society. Same goes with pronunciation: it isn’t “ho-mo-geneous,” it’s “hom-ah-geneous.” And “compare-able” is pronounced “comp-rable,” dammit!

I don’t think this was a concrete piston, I think they filled the cylinder with the stuff and it was basically a 3 cylinder car.

$75M donation.

Ummm, no. If the government is willing to go full scale destruction on US soil, then maybe. At that point though, is that a government you’d support? The point is, with 300,000,000 legally owned firearms and 75,000,000 law abiding citizens owning firearms...there is jack and shit the government could do about it. At

Speaking of hidden features...

A great way to destroy a mint original car and hugely devalue it.

Automatic = CP. Especially in a Supra. At risk of being called a “stick shift bro”, whatever the hell that means.. If any car was meant to be a stick it was a 90's Supra. Why spend $80k, go 9/10 of the way there, then get an auto? I would have a different opinion if this was a luxury GT.

Then explain this. This is report from IIHS, a non-profit advocate agency.

Your comment on planes and pilots is not valid. Pilots have 1000's and 1000's of training hours to be able to fly and use systems. It does not even compare to just throwing an “autopilot” into a car and saying have at it. Tesla is using humans as the test rats of their system. Don’t drink the kool-aid man.

It’s not just a disingenuous name, it’s a disingenuous idea. A half-baked steering system whose behavior you cannot anticipate or understand, which may give up or even silently screw up. In either case the driver is required to take over and assume all liability for Tesla’s bugs.

I have been saying this for years once I realized how Autopilot was in a nut-shell: radar-adaptive cruise control with lane departure, active lane keeping & emergency auto-braking wrapped in a fancy name. The term used here describing an aircraft system of the same name is misleading on purpose, and in its

Tesla’s legal department likes to pretend that Autopilot is intended to be used under vigilant supervision by a driver ready to seize the controls the instant he suspects the system is not working properly.

Have they made a tractor trailer?

I think the servicing the cars issue is a big one that is being hugely overlooked. Friends of mine have a Model S (about to get a new one) and a Model 3. Both have been pretty much disasters reliability-wise, but they don’t care because they have other cars, work from home, and Tesla has given them kid-gloves

He also failed to mention all the tax money GM stole during the obama administration.

A lot of folks seem to be letting their emotional ties to Tesla get in the way of evaluating simple financial realities.

That’s the problem I have right now. It’s like every time someone starts to question their ability to actually mass produce a car at a “reasonable” price in volume they trot out some new R&D thing to try and distract.

Am I the only one who thinks this EXACT scenario should be test number fucking one? If the system can’t handle this....

Lidar doesn’t use visible light.

it’s for weed! it’s for fucking weed (and coke). like 50% of these are going to be sold in the arabian peninsula, where weed, coke, etc. is illegal. the other 25% are going to be sold to rich white guys in the suburbs (coke) and the other 25% are going to be sold to rappers, basketball players and drug dealers
