You aren’t lying, you are just wrong. You were paid (through a direct reduction of your tax burden) to make a purchase. That is a subsidy and expense (through unrealized tax income) for the government that is covered by other taxpayers.

My taxes are not part of the discussion. The issue originally raised is that taxpayers are funding a subsidy to a class of people who can afford a relatively expensive 2nd (3rd, 4th...) car.
