This is simply not true. There are literally tens of thousands of homes in my city (in California, no less) that were: 1) built after 2000; and, 2) do not have an HOA.

You can get similar stuff to what they use in the NFL at indoor stadiums now. It's far from the neon green long-bladed-astroturf looking junk from the past.

There are lots of (newer) neighborhoods out there that do not have HOAs, you just have to do your homework. It's part of those three L's, find a location without the HOA.
