Why do you keep bringing up China's and neighbouring countries' territorial disputes, when that issue really has zero relevance to the validity of claims of war crimes against people? My response has always been to your statement: "the truth in these situations is often somewhere in the middle of the disparate

You're the one mixing two separate issues here. I don't doubt the element of national pride in them, but war crimes committed and sovereignty disputes are separate issues. Both issues compound to the already negative image of Japan, but it doesn't mean they're the same issue. Disputes over Diaoyu Islands/Senkaku

"the highest estimates" are about the war crimes committed, right? If so, what does that have to do with the dispute over the islands? Are you implying some people want the islands so badly that they would abuse the upper estimates of war crimes in order to get the islands?

What disparate claims? I assume one side being the Japanese holocaust deniers, but what's the other side?

That was romantic, actually. :) And this kind of interaction between a couple reminds me of To The Moon, the indie game.

This game reminds me of a real-world game people play with 'numbers': the stock market.

Patches became an acceptable thing since...the day people had computers? Not only are patches acceptable, they are necessary for when unforeseen bugs happen. The xbox360 doesn't have a lot of hardware configurations variations, but there are still a lot of play variables in the game itself: jumping at point A,

Welcome to Kotaku! If these types of topics interest you, I think you'll be quite 'busy' here for a while.

Only just saw this article. Thank you for being brave, Tina. :) Change IS happening!

LOL, how isolated social media can make us, eh. I was *suddenly* reminded of the fact that this was Kotaku and there were indeed people with views like those on the internet, when I started reading the comments here. Up until then, all I saw were reactions on Twitter, and they're from people I follow, so...

Yeah, I felt the same way about that "dickwolves" thing. It's really their own response to people's responses that did them in. They don't seem to know how to do 2nd and 3rd responses, as their subsequent responses actually escalated the situation rather than minimized damages.

Glad that change is happening. It's about time the community put pressure on PA. They aren't monsters, they're just ignorant and insensitive, and..."jerks" as they put it. Being a jerk can only get you so far...

It does make sense when you consider the 'typical' conservative tendencies vs. liberal tendencies: *loyalty* is valued more by one group than the other. And since dogs are perceived to be more loyal than cats, it would make sense for someone with stereotypical conservative values to prefer a loyal dog over a non-loyal

Wow, what a powerful speech! And what a plug for the future of social media! Haha, have Google or Facebook hired this writer to write their next speech yet?

The protagonist's voice acting makes me wonder if the Japanese version's any better... :( Do you know if we have the option to switch the language?

Just exactly how much power do Japanese women have by "controlling the country's purse strings", if even those who're supposedly controlling the money get "allowances" that are on average only 57% of what their husbands get? This so-called "control" is in name only. The wives are still getting much less than the

Are you a woman, or are you just mansplaining what women consider to be "sexual objects"?

Exactly, the etymology of the term "homophobic" is a red herring that draws attention away from the actual topic. Not really sure what intentions these people had by *insisting* that they really really don't fear homosexuality. Like, who cares? The word has certainly evolved to be more than just "homo"+"phobia" over

I think a lot of people are pleasantly surprised by how nicely Tomb Raider has turned out. I was definitely one of those who did not have any expectations for the game, after their marketing people had come out and said they wanted to make players feel they'd want to 'protect' Lara. I was *afraid* of what the game

Haha, by "using the Song of Math", I thought they meant they played a song with the ocarina and measured how long it took for the sound to travel to the perimeters of the property, and then calculated the overall square feet of the entire property (castle+swimming pool+yards) from that!
