The other McLaren there yesterday didn’t have tire warmers and was having traction issues. He had drag radials but couldn’t do a burnout. His best runs were in the 10.40 range.

It’s not like the 720S is just a drag only machine either...I think the comparison is valid.

“. . .we validate the tires though analytical analysis. . .”
You are making a lot of assumptions. The first assumption you are making is that the entire theory of gravity, as it is understood by physics, is at all relevant to the discussion. If these people believed that our theory of gravity were correct, they would not believe in a flat earth.
From the perspective of what this guy is attempting, there is no practical difference between a round earth and a flat earth when it comes to calculating the effects of gravity. Low altitude ballistic trajectories work just fine assuming constant acceleration orthogonal to the surface of the Earth.
Meh. This is a road car, not a race car. The number of people who are going to buy one and run it flat out for 30 minutes at any point during its life is, if not zero, close to it.
These are called flagships, They bring prestige to the brand that a 40k car tech could not. This also probably has some premium margins to help finance the cheaper cars. These also are probably test beds for new expensive tech. There are a ton of reasons to produce hypercars for limited audiences.
You mean the guy whose companies are sending private rockets to the ISS, have been selling the Model S (an amazing electric car) for several years, and are leading the way on autonomous driving development?
“You’re positioned like a race car,” Musk said.
If they’re using 18650 cells without some battery enhancing tech, that battery pack would be north of 2500 lbs.
Also they still only have one factory that can’t meet Model 3 demand.
Because the grip of the tires on the road are the limiting factor in an emergency stop. There’s pretty much nothing on the road that can’t lock up the wheels if you mash the brake pedal at highway speed.
they literally showcased it at the live event. like 0-60 sprints and everything.
Digital renders, wild performance claims, no timeline, Tesla. I’m sure Tesla fully plans on making this and that it can hit those performance metrics. I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for it though.
Because that’s how electric motors work, there’s no need for a transmission so they aren’t sacrificing long range for acceleration.
It is 20s with a load.
It may help to alleviate brake fade on steep grades but I doubt it’s going to improve your stopping distance under normal conditions.
For a long time, especially in the 90s, there was a stereotype of Latin men (who were usually actually Spanish or Italian) being intimately gifted and sensual and extremely fetishized. See: actors like Antonio Banderas who was extremely popular with the ladies back then. It was stupid and generally had nothing to do…
The image of the “Latin Lover”, not a comment about Latinos. Rudolph Valentino (Italian) was sort of an epitome (and, according to some sources, the term was coined for him and then often used for other actors/entertainers of Italian/Spanish/French/Latin American backgrounds). The use - especially without “Lover” -…
