I’m not sure about the crankshaft. I would guess it’s similar in some way, it certainly doesn’t have that flat tone in of the flat plane v8. I do know the minor bank split is 15 degrees while the major split is 72 degrees. That 15 degree split makes the frantic tone at high RPM, it’s the same tone you hear in the VR6,

The title picture looks funny because the model was rendered in isometric projection. It’s not natural and can make things look distorted.

While not technically a V8, the W8 is my favorite 8 cylinder sound. To quote a friend “it sounds like a wookie orgasm”.

Because it literally kills them?

Doug Kalitta is Connie’s nephew. Connie’s son Scott passed away as a result of an accident at Englishtown that directly led to NHRA only running 1000' now.

The record thing looks like you got figured out. Keep in mind though that the record isn’t the fastest pass ever, it was the quickest and fastest that was backed

I’ve read this before - just a copy paste job, but impressive stats nonetheless

Can’t have a single article about Chris Harris without reminding us he wrote some stuff on Jalopnik, eh?

No clue. When I was growing up we’d throw a dead dog or a lose horse leg on the track to slow them down.

I did this to a driverless Ford Focus whilst drunk, thereby saving the life of a recently-purchased Porsche Boxster Spyder. It was however too late for the front clip of a Chevy HHR, but I don’t consider that a loss.

While in school back in the 70's, had a summer job with a property management company. In the stable were two Chevy LUVs (one yellow, like this one), a Ford Courier, and a Toyota HiLux with the high-mounted turn signals. Made very little money, but getting to drive those little trucks was almost reward enough.

I had a LUV that gobbled alternators, more exactly the voltage regulator rectifiers. I finally discovered the cause. The fuel pump wiring was not fused. The wire ran along the top of the frame where it could get pinched between the bed and the frame causing an intermittent short that did not burn the wire in two but

I don’t know why but I always liked those things, along with the small Datsun and Toyota pickups. I just like that sort of handy sized truck.

I have a thing for a Plymouth Arrow Pickup which you could actually get a Plymouth Arrow Car to match!

As boats go, it’s a pretty good car. And as cars go, it’s a pretty good boat.

A few months ago I saw one sitting in the garage on the lift at a gas station near my house. Definitely an oddball.

Amphicar

Find a V-10 from a Carerra GT, confuse purists forever.

When I first purchased my 1971 Saab Sonett. That car was the definition of “weird” but in a good way. V4 engine attached to FWD. fiberglass body. Pop up headlights(only one of which worked and it was dark). Last bust least the strange freewheel still left over from the 2 cycle motor that had recently been replaced.

Citroen CX Limousine. The amount of comfort in the car is insane, for something made in the seventies. The interior design and the controls are certainly revolutionary. I wonder why none of that ever caught on. And the suspension, wow, that was smooth. You can barrel through anything, speed bumps become non-existent.

I got to drive this once - what a BLAST!
