If someone at the city gov’t is really invested in enforcing this, they’ll argue that temporary structures are not enclosures and probably find a loophole that declares those a violation as well.

In law, a dwelling (also residence, abode) is a self-contained unit of accommodation used by one or more households as a home, such as a house, apartment, mobile home, houseboat or other ‘substantial’ structure
That occurred to me as well. This definitely feels like a “don’t have your adult kids living at home, much less any other non-nuclear-family nonsense” kind of law.
I am in Minneapolis right now and I would love to know what the enforcement map looks like for this, in rich neighborhoods?
Minnesota resident here: Fun fact- Little Canada is actually the name of a St Paul suburb. Short answer to your question: no, there are no positives to living here; most folks move after a few months or kill themselves.
Most likely a targeted attack on immigrants and poor families that do, in fact, live in single-family homes with other families.
Better to stalk the local city leaders and rat them out to the cops if they have multiple cars. That law will be repealed very quickly.
so are there any positives to living in minnesota? between the massive amount of snow, being the united states “little Canada”, and now this seems like a pretty good reason to avoid it at all costs
“By going the route he’s going, he’s just (potentially) creating a parking problem for the rest of his neighbourhood.”
But you do own the right to access that property via a driveway. If the curb cut is legal, it’s illegal for others to block it. And he has to protect his rights through lawful means.
Nope. Not sure about other jurisdictions but I do know that here, you cannot block the access to/from a private driveway. If someone parks across your driveway, you can have them towed. In the case of an emergency, you need to be able to leave.
We used to have a neighbour who constantly parked their Jetta partways in to our driveway (They had five cars at their place, so they needed the extra room I guess). It was always a nightmare getting my truck out because the canopy obscured the mirror enough to render it useless, so I was constantly creeping slowly…
Perhaps your backup camera is defective. I can see daylight.
You block my driveway and I WILL be THAT guy and his dad and his grandfather.
They’re not the brightest crayons in the knife drawer.
“often park thier cars on my side of the street, even though there’s nothing in their garage, driveway, or own side of the street preventing them from doing so.?”
Blah, blah, blah. You also don’t “own” the sidewalk in front of your house, but by law you have to keep it in good condition even if requires you to repair/replace it and need to keep it free of snow and other things that can’t cause injury if used. You think you can remove the sidewalk and put down grass because it’s…
I would have parked much closer to them. Close enough that when they put their car in gear, it would have lurched forward enough to hit my hitch.
I used to have a similar issue at my old house with my neighbors across the street. They were just lazy in parking their cars and would hang a good 2' into my driveway opening on a regular basis. A polite conversation never made a difference. I can’t be made at this guy for doing it, especially since he’s using one of…
My F150 lets me select between displaying the boost gage or the trans oil temp. Naturally, I selected the boost gage on the first day I owned the truck and haven’t looked back.... Ironically, while the boost gage bounces around a lot, it is probably less useful than the trans oil temp gage.
