Hi, Ted. I agree that this is not the only angle from which to approach this part of the movie; that's why I only claim that it might be an important way to look at the scene in that it seems to unlock so many other aspects of the script that viewers might, at first, find baffling or random.

Just an observation regarding the quasi-flopitude of the Tony-B.'s-brother opening sketch: I noticed Alec and Martin both stepped on each others' lines near the head of that bit which effected their timing, and an early set-up and punchline got (mostly) lost under the audience's laughter —which seemed to throw them…
