I'd say Ron's romantic reticence (band name copyright 2012) was clear:  When L.L. asked him to detail how he was fixing the pothole as proof of his expertise, he concisely explained his methodology —and she absorbed it instantaneously:  "I'll know how to do it myself next time."  She is Ron's no-bullshit

Yes, OF COURSE it was a direct quote.  That's why I put IT in DOUBLE quotation marks —which indicated I knew it was a line from the show being quoted (—i.e., a quote of a quote).  I ALSO said that the character was lying, AGAIN indicating that it was something the character had SAID…erm, a quotation.  My problem was
