John Oliver was at his most Oliver and had me laughing with his season send off. I just could not believe the set built of 2020 and how they blew the shit out of it in that gravel pit with what a dozen cameras at the ready.

Another taut episode tonight. Even though Hugh Grant is surprising me leaning into his career long natural charm ( “I behaved badly” worked great in that almost historic mea culpa with Jay Leno) he is adding an admirable oleaginous layer to his performance that is working better than I thought him capable.
Outstanding!
Jill Biden, who likely will be supervising their move, needs to have the entire White House Fogged down, UV sanitized, and scrubbed clean of orange bronzer, falling orangutan like hair all over the carpet and clogging the shower, Melania’s leg make-up on all the good furniture and Barron Trump’s stiff white socks.…
but it sure was racist when he called Detective Mendoza “dear boy. No. No it’s not. Sutherland (and his eyebrows) are a senior, likely English educated, art and humanities expert and “dear boy” is not in anyway an ethnic slur and commonly used. My very senior boss uses it all the time when giving me a slight,…
I could not disagree more with this review save for how great Nicole Kidman’s performance is This was an A grade onion and with each layer being peeled away I thought the reveals were very much earned. The reviewer’s issue with the physician at the hospital not being able to speak to her is the case against her…
Three years have passed and my opinion hasn’t changed not even a little.
In space no one can hear them............
Wait. That is actually a thing?
I certainly liked this better than the review. I think we are seeing such extremes with Elena, so jarring, uncomfortable and sad but it is intentional. We are seeing the box cover of a puzzle and the balance of the show is putting them together for the viewers. Seems unfair to criticize in the first episode.
HOLY SHIT! Where have you been?

I started the post with I fully realize there are businesses out there in equally dire straits.
I fully realize there are businesses in equally dire straits. But I cannot think of one sector of business so vulnerable to the rolling clusterfuck of this pandemic than the film business. The dominoes are huge and their fall is a tsunami of economic pain. Filming can employ several thousand people, the studios…
The first time I ever noticed Mark Strong was STARDUST a film I do not think gets the love it deserves. He played the villain Septimus, with such pitch perfect fierceness, I remember going on IMDB to find out who he was.
Look, no new version of REBECCA could ever match the original simply because there exists no one like George Sanders in Hollywood today. It’s that basic. It would be like trying to remake LAURA. No Clifton Webb? Then don’t even try.
This article reads like the AV Club version of “Who Would You Rather?”
You ride on a man hard enough and fast enough he doesn’t think about who he’s with or how many. He thinks about himself and how he might get clear of that wrath about to set down on him.
Well that was messy. At several points I kept thinking, where are we, why are we doing this and why are we going there? What was the deal with the baptism? Spiritual faith is pretty much sidelined in Lovecraft Country. Oh look Ji-Ah. Stick around gal, we may need to use your snake eyes to jumper cable the counter…
I see your point, but I had enough confidence in the writers and show that once the framework of the mythology was in place this turn on a dime with Brother Justin was going some place quite interesting. That likely was the biggest “what” and “why” far more than just a cliffhanger.
