Mistakes like these have happened as long as their have been “photoplays”. My favorite still is a very obvious shot of Tony Curtis wearing jeans under his tunic while at a table looking over a troop movement war map in SPARTACUS.  But one shot from the side and it was clear he was a Levi 501 guy.
