As vibrant as Close is, maybe I just don’t want to think of her as having a career achievement award.......I want to see her tackling new roles and bringing it.

Terrific third year outing for True Detective. It was a pleasure to see three lead performance shine but like for everyone here, Stephen Dorff proved a revelation. Some are not going to like the twists to get “that story worth telling” but I was very surprised that a series that was careening into conspiracy, a

Olivia Colman winning was absolutely right. And her acceptance speech a joy. Having watched The Wife this afternoon, Glen Close was fine. But it would have smacked of a career achievement nod. I know there is role for Close out there that will summon all of her talents and for a performance most deserving.

But, but, but, but..............it’s the Season Finale of True Detective!

The procedural elements are slow, almost spinning in place because let’s be honest, a lot of these are going to be dead ends, so it’s becoming a bit rote. But yikes so much of the dialogue was so oddly stilted and over written. Example: Gummer I

STARDUST?  Not even one question regarding?

Ahh, this is where many get frustrated with the True Detective series because, it is a procedural, it can be creepy and lurid, but a procedural. But I have to differ with Emily’s take on the children and omissions.

The entire tone may be familiar, the Southern setting similar to the first season, the lurid crime and sketchy characters beautifully cast, but damn does it not pull you in.
