This is the correct take. The only time lethal force is justified is if the victim has a reasonable fear of serious injury or death. And by reasonable, I mean actually reasonable, not George Zimmerman reasonable.

The whole point of gun ownership for most of these zealots is disproportionate response. Have you ever seen a gun-nut thread about how to get away with shooting someone in the back for trespassing? How about “We don’t call 911" signs on their lawns? They’re literally looking for an excuse to shoot someone.

You could lose an eye doing that.

OK - Lending a friend a firearm when you’re together at the range or going hunting.
