Sort of what the labour party in the UK did and whilst it would likely go better, I doubt it would work as well as one would hope. I think people underestimate the extent of the middle.

When I was younger I assumed there would be a one world government within my lifetime. That as a people we would move beyond our arbitrary differences and learn to be and work together.
