@Slinkytech: I have to disagree. I've tried nothing and it wasn't much of anything.

@Jerseyboy160: When I think of all of the changes that have happened in the name of security or law and order over the last 8 years 11 months and 27 days I get all depressed.

@Insecure Penguin: no system is perfect. Having said that it could be worse. IMHO this decision is helping it get there.

@Insecure Penguin: At the very least Judicial oversight forces law enforcement to think of a justification before they do this; and it has a cost in time and effort that makes them evaluate whether the information gain is worth the cost of getting it.

It makes you wonder about their architecture. Do they really have servers dedicated to given accounts? Are they geographically distributed or collocated?

@KirkVox: Dont worry, we all start talking to our selves sooner or later. It's natural.

@collex: Yeah, I know. When one of those Fatties ignores that the rest of the Americas exist, I'm forgiving, because what else can you expect? It's unfair of me, but I expect more from someone living in a more enlightened country. Sorry.

@collex: And here I was thinking that Canada was on one of the American continents. The Northern one I think, but I'll need to check now that you've made me doubt my own memory.

@ziffelbat: WTF? I could swear I said this yesterday and it had nothing to do with universal constants changing... or does it?

Seems like a good premise for apocalyptic scifi. Some grad student discovers that the constant is changing but no one will believe her, because you know - no reputation (and plus she's a gurrl). Computers start malfunctioning, communications systems fail. Then she invents some gizmo that has to be placed on a comet

@cakeman: I hate to break this to you but When Mommy said you are the bestest ever Waldo finder in the whole wide world, ever! She was just trying to build your self esteem.

Google says there are three of me.

@Dresan: So you're saying that at one time I was actually considered cool? Wow thanks! Wish someone had told me back then though, I might have used that confidence and got laid more often.

There is something missing from that explanation. How does a cloud of dust self-organise so that light coming from 'outside' behaves differently from light coming from 'inside' the cloud? What would the dust need to be made of?

@SupaChupacabra: The Coriolis force (which by the way effects things the size of weather systems, not anything as small as a toilet) is caused by the earth's rotation, not the magnetic field.

@CanisPugnaxSnores: B2.0 because you they're new and improved over the current bacterial overlords and you know there is still going to be BO

Ahh Nipon! Drag hideous creatures up from the depths and eat them raw. Sometimes they kill them first. And if no added neurotoxin is required: that makes it so much better.

I thought a trope was a 'theme or device'. This list focuses on plot devices. Maybe you can do a second list focusing on the themes.

@DrZaius: That's what I thought too. Those dudes freak me out.

@Nexus6: This explains everything. Take a superficial look at something and you only see the superficial.
