same! maybe it’s just the ones we’re seeing pop up for us or get suggested to us?

Me too!
British people seem to find overly attractive people on TV threatening or something, or often a villain. To whit: Benedict Cumberbatch looks like an otter, Martin Freeman is short, Daniel Craig only has two expressions. See also: Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, Miranda Hart, and so on.
We are getting better at it slowly but…
Racial diversity aside, British tv dies bring the “looks” diversity. Personally, I am much more able to suspend disbelief when actors look like “regular people” than models. I mean, what I the likelihood of, say two beautiful detectives investigating the murder of a beautiful woman by a beautiful man? Boring.
Same. Black Mirror, Doctor Who, the Fades, scrotal recall, Misfits... most the shows I watch from the UK tend to have what seems to be pretty balanced casts, and a lot of interracial relationships that are just treated as relationships, so I had formed the opinion that casting was more equitable there. Poop.
Well, from what I read about the comics (I haven't read the comics, I read ABOUT them) he does have another love interest at some point, but in the end marries Jessica, so we can kinda expect that.
That bugged the shit out of me too. And the “social cause marketing” crap where they sold tshirts with art by third world people and donated a $4 backpack in exchange. Fucking exploitative at both ends. As for the female bias: Jez, call me when you have an actual news story. I have eyeballs.
This is semi-related, but did anyone see the episode with the Purlettes? The woman was using elderly people as sweatshop labor, having them knit purses that she would felt and sell for $250+, and pay them a pittance. I hated that woman, and Mr. Wonderful was the only one of the sharks who saw it as exploitative.
Seriously. The worst part about all of this is that the collection is ugly as fuck (then again, it IS Jeremy Scott).
This is fantastic and it’s about time one of these overblown designers catches their karma for completely ripping off street art for their wears.
also, a follow up:
“no whites”
I wouldn’t expect a bodega clerk to be particularly extremely intelligent (nothing against clerks). However, they often work in areas that can get rough at times at night. If the father went in there asking for the phone to call police, the clerk could have called the cops himself. That’s not asking to much. So yeah,…
I wonder the nationality of the person who refused to let someone use the phone and the nationality of the father. I also think there is a very special place in hell for those who refuse to help other’s in an emergency. I think people should be publicly shamed for being assholes.
I’d like that “good citizen’s” name released.
I don’t think I’ve been caught this off guard since Michael Jackson.
My morning so far:
Wake up to check schedule
See this has happened
Conclude I am not yet prepared to be awake in a world without David Bowie
Go back to sleep
What kind of world do we live in where David Bowie dies. WTF?
Blackstar is an absolute mic drop. While with the next day it was nice just to have some new Bowie again, Blackstar really feels like Bowie doing something new, even for him. It is a fantastically layered album both musically and lyrically.
