I had 170ish hp rental SUVs(Rogue and Santa Fe) when visiting Colorado national parks and both made me feel unsafe. Having a nice reserve of extra horsepower is a safety feature.
They still make them. Just don’t sell them here in the US.
Design wise this thing was so ahead of it’s time.
Still, for $9500 you can choose from variety of brand new motorcycles
This thing is 5500lbs, add 150-200lbs for each passenger, some luggage and you are at 6500lbs fully loaded. It’s a fat suv - it will eat tires fast.
David,
I believe they already replaced that supercharged 3.0 v6 with a turbo 2.9 v6
You can have your own opinion but it needs to match his opinion, otherwise you are automatically a Nazi.

He pulled it out of his ass, but I think his head is still stuck there.
How about more apples to apples? You can buy 5 series competitor - Lexus GS with 100k miles for $5k. Since BMW doesn’t make any off roaders, let’s take a look at 15y old G-wagen with 100k+ miles - they are $20k-$25k
Why are they so cheap? There are few 2016 MY Premium 3.0t with 50k miles listed below $15k
What $$$?? Aren’t econobox Hondas supposed to be cheap to repair\maintain?
Just because ONE DEALERSHIP in the US listed their Palisades with 10k markup does not mean people actually pay 58k for them...
In compact car world, “performance” starts around 280-300hp - Type R, Golf R, STI, S3, Cooper S etc and goes to 400hp - CLA\GLA AMG, RS3
$28k - that is MSRP of the Mazda3 with manual transmission.
The Volvo C30 R-design is 227hp not 250hp. It may look cool from outside but interior is super dated - looks like something from early 2000s. You can definitely find better options for 15k
So you have Toyotas on the list but no Lexus..
