Not everyone makes as much as you do. Most Americans live from paycheck to paycheck. Having 19 cards is ridiculous but if you are able to pay it off each month good for you! Most have 19 to bounce bills around from.

The reason they were paying the smaller one off first is so that they can snowball the smaller debt payments into the bigger one.

That's his whole point about having an emergency fund. It's to replace the credit card. I applaud you if you have self control to not use your CC but most people don't have self control and use it anyway thinking, "Oh I'll just pay it off later" and never do and rack up more and more debt.

Actually once you cut back on what you spend not having a credit card isn't hard. Just don't make any huge purchases at once. Save up for it and buy it with cash. You don't REALLY need that fancy new doo-hickey right now. ;)

Or you know, they could stop basing their "science" on different groups of people and just come to the realization that each person is different and for some breakfast is necessary and for some it isn't.
