Well, they can. I bought a PS4 purely because of that E3 conference, I'd be embarrassed to own an Xbox One.
The funny thing is that 2.00 took so long because Sony learned from their mistakes with PS3 updates, this is really unfortunate.
So after the big announcements that just happened, you can clearly see that nothing good came from the 3DS version, in fact, characters are being held back only if you own both versions, which is just outrageous.
You can feel free, but it really is just common sense. If you've seen anything regarding news about the game from Sakurai, he said the rosters would be the exact same for both platforms. He cut out characters as the 3DS couldn't handle them. Nothing good can come from an inferior version of the game.

I've played over 60 hours, and I've never seen this issue once. For the first 15 hours of gameplay, I was constantly killing captains because I didn't know what else I was supposed to do.
I love Nomura. I like everything he does, character design, writing, and game directing.
He HAS health problems. I believe his wrists are really bad, as he enters EVERY single damage value, and checks it himself.
