Yeah, I always thought that mode was so that you could rotate the car at low speeds by locking the rears while turning/braking, but it sounds like this is a low enough traction situation that it behaves similarly to snow.

I don’t disagree at all that threshold braking is best, I’m more concerned with locked vs abs on normal surfaces.

Ha, no that is a pretty specific set of circumstances that I have not experienced. Most of my cars have not had ABS, and I haven’t spent much time on wet grass with either category.

Yeah, I understand it isn’t the main goal, but in *most* situations it does reduce stopping distance. I guess on snow/ice the difference between static and kinetic friction isn’t large enough to make abs more effective than just mashing on it.
