Yeah the 90's fledgling car kid in my wants it, but not for $22k of my hard earned 2012 dollars.

Cool for sure, but just the sheer impossibility of getting replacement parts scares me.
Yeah, that's a pretty standard hypermiking technique. You just have to make sure you don't use much fuel in the coast afterwards
Park the G35. Ride the SV650 a little more and drive the Miata the rest of the time.
Nice clown shoe.
That's hilarious from a 10 year veteran.
I can't say for sure with the 458, but in general it's a good way to get a lot of energy away from the passenger compartment.
Looks like he still has the stock IRS in it...Impressive.
No, but I was replying to UnalteredTruth's comment that:
I use an iPad, I don't really have any trouble with getting it dirty, as there are few crevices that you can't clean easily. Works really well for my purposes.
Traction control is banned in NHRA
I guess I didn't read his comment the way you rephrased it.
I don't see any reason to make it personal. I have driven fast cars, but few with as much sophisticated electronics as the GT-R has. I too was under the impression, based on all the reviews, that it would be pretty difficult to get in trouble at low speed in a straight line with the GT-R.
Oh I'm sure it is. It's just that every review I've ever read or watched made it sound like the electronics and torque vectoring would have been able to handle this situation without drama.
I thought GT-R's were supposed to be easy to drive.
Yes, but the whole reason that he is able to achieve that speed is that the atmosphere is so thin at that altitude that friction is very low. I'd think Mach 1 at sea level would be pretty toasty though.
*Ahem*
If it remains naturally aspirated, that will inevitably sound ridiculous. To make that kind of power with a reasonably sized (<7L) engine they're gonna have to rev pretty darn high. Can't wait.
NP for the DOHC head and apparently rust free body. Damn Cali...
Obviously this guy did this instead of doing an actual repair after an accident, but MAN would you look how far forward that fender buckled.
