I saw only one movie that was new to - Dinner at Eight, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I had always assumed that it was a movie about a dinner party, but that probably takes up the last 15 minutes or so. Anyway, I can't imagine it will ever be a favorite, but the first half is really funny, and the shift to drama is

I knew Shearman had written other stories (he has another amazing 8/Charley story later on) but I didn't know which specific ones. Thanks!

You mentioned a while back that you were still waiting for Charley to have that moment where she comes into her own. And here it is! My absolute favorite 8th Doctor story. I plan to return to it every Christmas for the foreseeable future.

5 isn't my favorite, but "Time Crash" is probably the piece of Doctor Who that I've returned to the most times. Obviously that's partially due to the length, but I just love every second of it.

I keep hearing that, and it sounds fascinating. My wife and I are 25-or-so stories deep into the 8th Doctor's audios, but we haven't touched the others. Maybe I'll start listening to 6th Doctor episodes during my commute.

Only Jane (the younger daughter) was recast. Lilly's actress has been consistent for the whole series.

I never read any of his novels, but "A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings" was one of my favorite short stories I read in high school. My best friend and I wrote a genuinely terrible musical adaptation in 11th grade.

I'd agree with you if I didn't think "G.I. Jeff" was mostly a failure, or if I could forget that tag with Vince Gilligan and Gina Gershon.

I've liked one more with repeated viewings. It's not the same show as 2-3, but it is a consistently funny show about students at a community college.

That's about it for me as well.

I remember seeing Steven Weber on Rosie in 1997, and he referred to the series finale as "when the laughter ends." In retrospect, I guess he was probably being semi-sarcastic, but at the time I was 12 and I thought it was weird that he thought anyone cared that much about Wings ending.

Such a great movie. I finally saw it this spring after years of assuming I wouldn't like it, but it's really, really funny.

Beats that monstrosity with Nick Kroll in drag and Jenny Slate!

My immediate reaction to this post was "Memories of Murder is a weird name for an Albert Brooks movie."

Thanks for the shout out, fella!

Absolutely. Even the Stark scene makes no sense with what we see in Iron Man 2, which is why they made a short film with Coulson bending over backwards to explain why they'd send in the "unfit" Stark to talk to General Ross.

Right, but except for Banner's comment about the last time he was in New York, The Avengers doesn't reference the 2008 movie either. And neither Banner nor the Hulk seem like the same character. That's really what I mean.

Wow. I'm only halfway through season 2, but so far there hasn't been much of that (outside of Peter/Olivia's disgust over Walter and William Bell experimenting on children).

I guess it's weird to say "Because you liked this one movie that I thought was mediocre, you should also watch these movies that I love," but I'd be interested to hear what you think of Russell's other movies if you get around to them.

Even from a very young age, I was a playboy or oper-a-tor type.
